Set up Dynamic Buffers

A Dynamic Buffer reduces the quantity Sqquid treats as available without changing the on-hand quantity at the source. Use one when you need to reserve a safety margin for store sales, delays, damaged stock, or another operational need.

This Setup Guide step is optional and intended for Accounts that need inventory protection beyond their normal source quantities.

Before creating a buffer, decide where it should apply:

  • Every product and sales Connection
  • One Connection
  • One Location
  • One SKU
  • A specific combination of Connection, Location, and SKU

Start with the narrowest scope that solves the problem. A broad buffer can lower online availability for far more inventory than expected.

  1. In the Setup Guide, expand Protect inventory with Dynamic Buffers and select Open Dynamic Buffers.
  2. Select Add Buffer.
  3. Select the Connection and Location for the scope you decided on, or leave them as None.
  4. Enter the inventory SKU to protect one SKU, or leave it blank to cover every SKU in that scope. The buffer type follows these fields automatically.
  5. Enter the quantity to hold back.
  6. Leave Apply if inventory > 0 off for a full refresh, then select Save.
  7. Review affected inventory and the next sales-Connection sync.

If several buffers match the same inventory, Sqquid combines their quantities. Review existing buffers before adding another one. For buffers that combine a SKU and Location, check the pooled-total limitation before applying them broadly.

For inventory published by Location, choose a buffer that includes a Location. Buffers without a Location reduce only the pooled total.

If routing should also respect Location buffers, open Order Routing and turn on Apply inventory buffers. Routing does not apply global, Connection-only, or SKU-only buffers. See the buffer examples before choosing a scope.

The Setup Guide goal completes as soon as the Account has at least one Dynamic Buffer.

Read the Dynamic Buffers guide for daily use, editing, deletion, and online update timing. See Inventory availability and Dynamic Buffers for scope examples and routing behavior.
